Overview
WIFR-LD is a low-power TV station licensed by the FCC to Rockford, Illinois, carrying CBS in the Rockford, IL market.
Viewers find it on channel 23. That is the virtual channel your TV displays; the signal itself goes out on RF channel 28, which is why a rescan sometimes matters. Its subchannels carry Antenna TV, Outlaw, Ion Television, Ion Plus and Defy. Low-power stations reach a smaller area than full-power ones, so reception depends on how close you are to its transmitter.
